Giovanni's Pizzeria
About This Spot
Stepping into Giovanni’s Pizzeria in Clinton, you’re met with the warm hum of a neighborhood kitchen doing what it’s loved to do for years. The space moves at a gentle, welcoming pace where conversations bubble over slices of pizza and hearty plates of Italian favorites feel like they were made just for you. It’s the kind of spot where the aroma of fresh dough baking blends effortlessly with the laughter and easy-going chatter of familiar faces and new visitors alike.
This is more than a place to grab a quick bite — it’s a slice of authentic New York charm right in the heart of town. The vibe is approachable and honest, with a sense of care that comes from being family owned and operated. Whether you’re here for a classic pizza slice that balances a perfect cheese stretch with a lively, homemade sauce, or something a bit more involved like a layered lasagna or a thoughtfully crafted Calzones, the flavors feel grounded and genuine.
Giovanni’s is where you savor the small human moments: a server greeting you by name, the shared thrill of a creative heart-shaped pizza at a family gathering, or the comfort of knowing your meal is prepared with fresh ingredients and a practiced hand. The menu might boast playful nods like a “Football Pizza” or a “Ninja Turtle” creation, but it’s the steady rhythm of familiar flavors and attentive service that invites you to linger.
Locals and visitors alike find here a spot that balances tradition with warmth — a place where the food is hearty without fuss, and the prices respect the everyday rhythms of community life. Nights may end too soon—for some, the hope is simply that the doors could stay open a little longer—but the feeling Giovanni’s leaves behind always draws people back. It’s the timeless comfort of sharing simple, soulful food with people who know your name and appreciate your appetite.

Giovanni’s is an awesome place to grab some pizza. They also have great subs. The staff is very friendly. The prices of everything is fair and affordable for many people. I’m glad we have a family owned place like this around here. The homemade mac and cheese was amazing too.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan dinner, and it was excellent!!! The chicken was HUGE, and tasted great! I couldn't eat it all! There was plenty of spaghetti and sauce with the chicken!!! WELL worth the money!! If you order Giovanni's chicken Parm dinner...I guarantee you'll love it!! Thank you Giovanni's!

Holy s**t, talk about REAL NY pizza!!! Perfect amount of cheese, great sauce, fresh ingredients... And almost NO grease (more fat, more fake). And to top it off the staff is awesome, especially the lady at the counter she was incredibly friendly! Best pizza I've had in the Utica area in awhile!!!

Originally I posted a one-star review because I was disappointed in the amount of roast beef on my take-out large sub. Since I was already having a bad day, I neglected to mention that the sub was still delicious, and we had enjoyed a perfect Giovanni's pizza the night before (we live in NC now; perfect NY pizza is a real treat). It's taken me a while to get back to editing this review, but it's very important to note that the owner of Giovanni's called me the very next day, genuinely concerned, and explained that it was a very busy night at the restaurant and it's probable that the pre-packaged meat for a small sub was used to make mine. He graciously offered to personally make another sub for me, but family business and travel dates didn't allow it. The next time we're in NY, we won't hesitate to order from Giovanni's again and look forward to trying other items on the menu. It's always refreshing to shop at a family-run business where they stand behind their products and services.

Let let me tell how delicious the Margarita Cauliflower Crust pizza was!!! Olive oil based with fresh mozz, tomato and basil. I will 100% be back and the staff is outstanding!!! P.S. Margarita pizza is a white pizza no tomato sauce because it has fresh tomatoes!!
